We are committed to equipping our students with the tools they need for a modern education by providing a personalized experience that leverages technology to support and enhance learning and teaching. Each e3 student and staff member is issued their own MacBook Air computer, ensuring that technology is seamlessly integrated into the learning process.
e3 Civic High is the only high school in the nation that is located inside a central library, our site is located in the landmark 400,000-square-foot downtown San Diego Public Library.
The unique partnership between e3 Civic High, the San Diego Public Library, the City of San Diego, and SDUSD has created a new mixed-use design model for urban public schools and community-based organizations. This allows our students exposure and participation in special events and programs.
We understand that every student learns differently. That's why our instructors tailor their teaching methods to meet individual needs. Whether a student wants to move ahead quickly or take their time to grasp a concept, our educators are there to guide and support them every step of the way.
We believe that every student deserves a helping hand. That's why we offer free tutoring to all e3 students. Our dedicated tutors provide additional academic support to ensure that every student has the resources they need to succeed.
We believe that learning extends beyond the classroom walls. Our students benefit from exciting field trips that broaden their horizons and connect classroom knowledge to the real world. Additionally, we offer a wide variety of clubs to cater to diverse interests, providing students with opportunities to explore and develop their passions.
At e3, we go beyond the standard curriculum to offer a range of enrichment programs. Our students have the chance to participate in activities such as our Agriculture Club, Hydroponics Garden, Architecture, Construction, and Engineering (ACE Program), Digital Media Arts, Coding, and more. These programs foster creativity, critical thinking, and practical skills.
We prioritize the well-being of our students. With a licensed marriage and family therapist on campus, we provide support for managing emotions and mental health. Our focus on wellness ensures that students have the tools to thrive academically, socially, and emotionally.
We are dedicated to helping our students build successful futures. Our Pathways program offers guidance in resume building, job searching, and finding a clear pathway for their careers. Additionally, we cover the costs of certificate programs with reputable organizations such as Microsoft, giving our students an edge in the job market while attending college.
We offer our students the opportunity to enroll in courses (providing over 100 courses) at San Diego State University and other colleges through our dual enrollment program. This allows them to earn college credits while still in high school, giving them a head start on their higher education journey.
We believe in preparing our students for the real world. Through our internship program, students gain invaluable real-life experience and develop crucial skills that will set them up for success in their future careers. This practical experience not only enhances their resumes but also builds their confidence and adaptability.
e3 Civic High prioritizes Design Thinking (human-center problem-solving) in its curriculum, encouraging students to tackle real-world problems and projects that hold personal relevance. This approach involves investigating issues, understanding various perspectives, designing innovative solutions, and presenting them to authentic audiences.
We take pride in our strong connection with the community. Through partnerships with over 300 local businesses, our students gain real-world experiences and learn from professionals in various industries. These collaborations broaden their understanding of career options and help them build valuable networks.
